Newton't First Law of Motion
Mrs. Thomason taught children about Newton's first law of motion: A body at rest tends to stay at rest until another outside force acts upon it. To illustrate the point, three eggs were set up on a pie tin which was knocked out from under them, dropping them into a glass of water. Day Three, BYU-I Aide Assignments
Who expected all this rain? No one could have predicted the moisture we are getting, but it keeps things cool, green, and mostly indoors.
We were lucky to get BYU-I students to come and work with us in our Summer Learning Adventure. As part of one of their classes, they are to work with us during the five week period. Teachers should make sure they have an instruction packet provided by Dr. Duque. If not, ask your assigned student to make sure you have one. Day #2 Ironing out the Wrinkles
Things went much smoother today. Enrollment was up from 134 students to 139. A few children had to be shifted to balance classes to more manageable numbers. We had to make a run to get more tablets and pencils. It was the first day for the BYU-I students who are working on their field experience. It was great to have the additional help.We feed children before putting them on busses and sending them home. Fourth grade students need much more time to eat than eighth graders. We appreciate the great work our lunch people do in making sure children are fed.

First Day of Summer Learning Adventure
Welcome to our first day. No matter how well you think you have organized everything, there are always a few things that pop up. There were some children in grades three and below who had to be relocated to the Burton Elementary school, but other than that everyone was in the right place.Children were met by teachers and divided up into their respective classes. Some of the aides had to be reassigned where the need was greatest.
We received a list from BYU-I regarding the eleven student teachers who will be here on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mr. Larry Duque is the BYU-I professor who is supervising the Sr. Methods Practicum students. Teachers should give them as many opportunities as possible to teach and manage the classroom environment. A packet will be provided with additional information regarding this program.Children in Mrs. Wade's class are shown participting in one of the activities designed to emphasize hands-on participation. Mrs. Thomason is shown pulling a tablecloth from under dishes and silverware. What better way to explain laws of motion?
We will keep you posted each day as to what is happening at our Summer Learning Adventure.
